The Los Angeles-class submarine, also known as the 688 class, has a total of 42 active submarines, as of 2012, as well as 20 retired. Construction of the 688 Class started in 1970 and ended in 1996 after the completion of the 62nd submarine. With a length of 360 feet, the 688-class fast attack submarines were designed to hunt Soviet submarines as well as operate beneath the polar caps.
This replica model comes mounted on a piece of mahogany wood measuring 16" in length and is ideal for display on a desk or shelf. Attached is an engraved plate complete with the employee's name, years of service, and the location of the work site.
